That's true, this is far preferable to a 6-mana monstrosity like Rites of Reaping.
In a set that's a bit low in power, I'd rather have this than some sort of ultra-overcosted Rites of Reaping. That card makes me mad.
It'll always feel like a waste using it for the +2/+2 rather than to kill a guy, but sometimes it'll be correct.
I'd normally rather have Consume Strength, but this is still fine as a common.
Solid yet fine. Compares okay with Child of Night.
usually you will target yourself for the life gain but you can use it to 'make friends' in multiplayer.
Mmm.. it's a lovely token hoser. I'd often be willing to pay for "1 damage to target creature and its controller" which this is always at least as good as.
It can hit untargetable stuff; it hoses tokens... Compared to Chandra's Fury it deals 3 less to the player, and is a sorcery, so a 2 discount? I can see that.
Hmm. One-sided Rain of Embers. That's normally 5 mana (Aggravate, Chandra's Fury, Ronin Cliffrider) but has been seen at 4 (Wail of the Nim entwined), 3 (Scalding Salamander) and 2 gold (Simoon). Weird. I guess 3 is probably fine.
Hmmmm. My first thought on looking at the new version was "people will grumble that it's still strictly worse than Lightning Helix", but yeah, you may be right that "a common Lightning Helix" would still have its appeal.
On second thought, I'm guessing the card does have its appeal as a "common Lightning Helix".
Well, it's still a narrow ability. What I was asking was why do you feel this needs to be more than just 1 damage to a player and all his/her creatures? That's a very fine common, though a bit less maindeckable than Chandra's Fury.
It's not that the choices are difficult. It's the cost and the four keywords. Imagine this was the first card you saw.
But many people are fine with complicated sets, so if it isn't a problem for you, it's cool.
This is set 3 of the Aerikal block. the sets that make up the block are:AerikalDark OmensDeliverance - this set
dropped cost by to make it a it more attractive
this is set 3 of the Aerikal block - Aerikal, Dark Omens and This
has its uses, playing 2 colour & only 1 land of second colour but need CC that turn and have to spare....as an example.
Its basically a sorcery that sticks around as a 1/1 now.
will look at making the tribal equipment a bit more varied.
was going to change it to : First strike but in a r/w deck thats basically the same as anyway.
dropped cost but left at 3 and 3.
